Ever since I've been running my own Mastodon server I've been thinking a lot about availability. It's nice that my server is just for me. If it goes offline, nobody will really even notice. I'll just be "offline" for a bit.

My gut tells me to build for resilience at every turn, but there's something comforting about the ease of going dark whenever I want.
